The Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Yusuf Kazaure and the executive management team of Galaxy Backbone played host to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry Of Communications, Istifanus Fuktar, on July 31st, 2019, when he paid a courtesy visit to Galaxy Backbone’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. The Permanent Secretary was on a familiarization tour and was also taking the opportunity to visit and assess Galaxy Backbone’s ICT Infrastructure and services.
Galaxy Backbone(GBB) is the Information and Communications services provider company owned 100% by the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the supervision of The Ministry of Communications, with a mandate to provide a shared ICT infrastructure, applications and services to all Federal Government MDAs and institutions in all of government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies. GBB plays a key role in the implementation of the recently launched E-government master plan for the country. It was therefore important for Mr. Fuktar to make this visit, his first since his appointment.
During the meeting with the organization’s executives, the Permanent Secretary expressed delight at the progress the company continues to make in the development of Information Technology in Nigeria, and across government agencies.
He was thereafter taken on a tour of Galaxy Backbone’s Tier III Datacentre and Network Operations Centre. The data center is the only Tier III certified facility outside Lagos and the one with the only in-country disaster recovery site situated in Enugu.
In concluding the tour, the Mr Fuktar encouraged management and staff of the company to continue to put excellence in the work being done and see it as their contribution towards nation building. He also promised to encourage other agencies of government who currently host their data elsewhere, to move their data to GBB’s secure and highly available data centre.
