Olumbe Akinkugbe studied law as a first degree and the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife from where he proceeded to the UK for further studies where he studied Marketing and Strategy. Olumbe started his career at the Commonwealth Business Council UK as a Business Executive from where he moved to Cadbury UK as a Marketing Coordinator.
He proceeded to join the world acclaimed Cisco Associate Programme based in Cisco EMEA in the Netherlands as one of 3 candidates from Nigeria where he qualified as a Cisco Certified Design Associate, Cisco Certified Network Analyst and Cisco Sales Expert.
He was transferred to Cisco West Africa Located in Lagos where he had a successful career and rose to be Country Manager in Liberia After several years at Cisco He joined Dell Technologies as a Senior Account Manager Public Sector and Financial Services from where he was appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Government on Information and Communication Technology. After excelling in that role, the Governor later appointed him as the Chairman of Ondo State Information Technology Agency (SITA).
As Chairman of SITA, Olumbe established the first tripartite tech hub in Africa, providing a facility where tech entrepreneurs have access to work stations, meetings rooms, and a conducive environment to ideate, and create products and services to solve local problems.
He also established a digital village with ICT labs in specially built containers in each senatorial district to deepen access to digital skills by providing 24-hour power and reliable internet. Over 2000 people from primary school to older adults have acquired skills in coding, UI/UX design, digital marketing, and basic computer knowledge.
Olumbe successfully led a team to deliver what was adjudged by SAP as the best public sector implementation of its ERP solution in West Africa. He also built a metro network connecting all MDA’s an automated Ondo state government’s payroll, HR, and financial management systems.
