Abdul-Malik Suleiman, MCPN – Head, Special Projects

 

Abdul-Malik Suleiman has over two decades of professional experience spent helping organisations develop, implement and operate sustainable technology solutions that improve the growth and productivity of these institutions.

​He commenced his carrier in technology with NITEL now nTEL, after experiencing the academia as a teacher – assistant lecture at Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi. He was the IP Manager for the South Atlantic 3/West Africa Submarine Cable (SAT-3/WASC) and part of the pioneering team that promoted undersea cable operations in Nigeria. His accomplishment at NITEL and his desire to create more impact in technology space led him to Galaxy Backbone, where he joined as Technical Manager responsible for the development and implementation of the 1-GOV.net e-government infrastructure platform.

He has held several significant positions in Galaxy Backbone, as Solutions Architect, Implementation Manager, Integration Manager and Service Owner. In these roles, he expanded and deepened Galaxy’s portfolio of services to customers and stakeholders within the public and private sectors. His success in these functions, and the growth in his understanding of the nexus between business and technology services led to his appointment as the Group Head Business Development. Six years later, he was appointed as the pioneer Group Head Regional offices responsible for extending Galaxy’s reach nationwide.

Today, he brings the depth of experience; clear understanding of technology and customer needs to Galaxy’s Special Project department in defining the company’s future.

He was acting MD/CEO of Galaxy Backbone between December 2023 and February 2024.

Abdul-Malik is a Fellow of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and a Chartered Information Technology Practitioner. He is also a Member of Computer Professional Registration Council (CPN). An alumnus of the prestigious Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, where he obtained Bachelor of Technology and Master of Science degrees in the field of computing. He is also an Alumnus of Lagos Business School (LBS) and Bayero University Kano. He recently completed his PhD thesis in Cyber security at Nassarawa State University (NSU), Keffi.

His believe in continuous self-development has earned him various ICT certifications and training of international repute, spanning the fields of Management, Aviation, Telecoms, Marketing, Sales, innovations, and recently non-interest banking and financing options, from institutions around the world, amongst which are George Washington University, USA; Siemens Institute for Information and Communication, Germany; Japan Telecommunications Engineering Institute, Tokyo; Indian Institute of Technology, India; CasaAero Morocco; Capitol Dubai, UAE, British Telecommunications  Training Institute, Yarnfield Stone, UK,  Huawei and ZTE Universities, China and INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau, France (online) program “on leading organisations in Disruptive Times” amongst others.

His soft skills include teambuilding, leadership and mentoring, and effective communication. Abdul-Malik values and promotes integrity, accountability, merit and diversity in the work place.

In his spare time, he also shares and contribute his expertise and experience on the platform of several consortia and technical working groups.

His Hobbies include gegen football, commonly referred to locally as kwallon matsi matsi and Greenfield horse racing.
