At the kickoff ceremony to usher in the E-Government 2022 Training Programmes for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Galaxy Backbone Managing Director/CEO, Professor Muhammad Bello Abubakar who is also the Co-chair of the Committee was on hand to inaugurate this year’s training programs.
In his address, Prof. Abubakar highlighted the achievements of the committee set up by the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami to foster and enhance capacity building and knowledge transfer around digital services meant to support the development of Nigeria’s Digital Economy. He explained that more regulations are required to help drive digitization in Nigeria which will in the long run, reduce government spending.
As MD/CEO of Galaxy Backbone (GBB), he stressed on the state of the art digital Infrastructure that the government through GBB has provided for the benefit of MDAs; In his words, “Galaxy Backbone has the only Tier III Datacentre in the nation’s Public Sector, however this Infrastructure is underutilized and this is where we need the support of both the public and private sector.”
Prof. Abubakar explained that GBB can help in securing the data MDAs by everyone coming together to support this process. He further stated; “It is only when we come together, can we attain the common goals we have set for ourselves which is to transform our different MDAs into becoming digitally enabled platforms”. These Egovernment programmes will support MDAs in their digital transformation journeys and as they get trained through this platform, GBB is positioned to provide the infrastructure needed to support their learning and development.
