Held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. The one-day Digitalization Retreat, hosted by Galaxy Backbone (GBB) for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) was a success engagement that brought together major stakeholders in the government tech space. The event sought to illustrate the revolutionary potential of GBB’s’s 1Government Cloud Solution in strengthening governance and service delivery, in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for better and more efficient government through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The retreat, titled “Presidential Priorities 8’’ Improved Governance through Effective Service Delivery,” brought together Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Heads of Agencies, IT professionals, and industry experts to discuss the critical role of digital transformation in the public sector. The 1Government Cloud Solution is designed to provide secure and reliable cloud-based services to MDAs.
In his welcome address, the Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, emphasized the organisation’s pivotal role as the government’s digital infrastructure and shared services provider. “We are committed to providing secure, reliable, and innovative ICT solutions that empower MDAs to effectively carry out their mandates, streamline operations, and enhance service delivery to the citizens of Nigeria. These efforts are essential for driving digitalization across our public sector,” he stated.
The retreat featured interactive sessions, presentations, and live demonstrations, providing attendees with practical insights into the implementation and benefits of the 1Government Cloud Solution. Experts from Galaxy Backbone shared valuable perspectives, real-world case studies, and success stories from previous deployments, illustrating the positive impact of digitalization on service delivery and governance.
The keynote address was delivered by Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, who praised Galaxy Backbone for its visionary approach. “By collaborating with MDAs and aligning their operations with presidential priorities, Galaxy Backbone is crucial in driving positive change and transformation in our country,” he stated.
Yabo emphasized that the initiative showcases a strategic approach to addressing the government’s challenges in delivering efficient and effective services to citizens. He expressed confidence that this collaborative effort will lead to improved governance practices, streamlined service delivery, and better outcomes for the people.
The Galaxy Backbone 1Government Cloud is a Software As A Service (SAAS) and Infrastructure As A Service (IAAS) solution design for the automation of government process and enhancing the effectiveness of service delivery. Some of its features include, Uniformity, Data Sovereignty and Data Security amongst others.
